Dear Wine Lover,
We are glad to announce that we managed to secure us a nice parcel of the Vega Sicilia owned Pintia 2007, the newest vintage of this fantastic wine from the Spanish region Toro.
Bodegas Pintia was established in 1997 and was bought by Vega Sicilia, the most prestigious winemaker of Spain and producer of Unico. Alvarez family believed very much in the Toro region and had the idea to turn the wines coming from here into the best produced in Spain. The aim of Bodegas Pintia is, like for all production estates of Vega Sicilia, to produce wines with personality and of high quality with very limited production. Indeed up to now this has worked out really well, as the wines of the Bodega are more and more getting appreciated among wine lovers and wine critics.
The wine we would like to underlay to your attention today, Pintia 2007, is a 100% Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) and aged in 100% new French and American oak. Like all Tempranillos these are already enjoyable very young but keep on developing in the bottle for a very long time. If you analyze the Robert Parker ratings you will notice that beginning from the first vintage released on the market in 2001 up to now, Pintia received always between 92-95 points. A master wine:
75.0 cl Pintia – Bodegas Pintia (Vega Sicilia) 2007 CHF 34.00 (CHF 36.70 VAT Included)
36 bottles or more at CHF 33 (CHF 35.65 VAT Included)
Robert Parker 93+ Points: The 2007 Pintia was sourced from 50% ungrafted Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) vines and aged in 100% new French and American oak. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it shows off a compelling bouquet of wood smoke, scorched earth, mineral, incense, blackberry, and licorice. Already complex on the palate, this full-bodied offering is dense, succulent, and structured. Give this lengthy Toro another 5-7 years of cellaring and drink it from 2016 to 2032, if not longer.
Bodegas Pintia, a 96 hectare estate, is owned by Vega Sicilia. Pintia is located further west along the Duero River inside the warmer DO of Toro.
