Dear Wine Lover,
We have never offered Prosecco before and never we even thought we would ever offer it. But sometimes you change your mind and this is what happened in this case. Our Italian wine buyer, Ms Sara Lopedote, discovered a little producer in the middle of the Conegliano area and contacted him for a tasting at our premises. His name is Marco Cuscito, owner of Giavi, who visited us a couple of weeks ago and brought us along his Prosecco’s which we had the pleasure to taste together. Marco is around his 30s and a very dynamic entrepreneur, convinced about his products and sure about the high quality wines he can offer. He is having great success in Italy and England and together we would like to get his wines known also in Switzerland proposing you his best drops: Prosecco DOCG Brut and Prosecco DOCG Vintage
We didn’t expect very much from this tasting but we have been positively surprised. Both wines are very elegant, fresh and with a good balance, perfect for appetizers and to drink beside a meal. I have to admit that we liked them so much that during the tasting we didn’t drink just one glass! You can really feel that this is a high quality Prosecco and the main reason is because it is produced with the first press of the grapes in a very limited quantity. Furthermore DOCG (controlled designation of origin guaranteed) defines the highest quality standards in Italy and it is specific in only some small regions in Italy like Conegliano, another prove that Giavi is one of the best Prosecco producers in all Italy. Also James Suckling found it a delicious sparkling wine and gave to the Brut 90 points.

James Suckling 90: This is a new Prosecco producer for me. My friend from Hong Kong found it in a deli shop near Arezzo, Italy, when he was loading up on salami for dinner on Saturday night. The dense sparkling wine had much more flavor and interest than your normal Prosecco, which can be very commercial and industrial tasting at times. I am not a great fan of Prosecco because so many taste artificial, but this sparkler from Giavi really hit the spot over the weekend and cut nicely through the salami. It was dense and layered with lemon rind and peach skin, full and delicious with a fine bead and wondeful flavors. Drink now. 90 points
