Dear Wine Lover,
The last time we made a special offer on some of our Spanish wines, our customers responded with such enthusiasm that our stocks vanished to the last bottle. In view of such an interest we have this time cared to stock-up more and we hope that we will have enough to satisfy your wishes for the fantastic Numanthia 2006 and 2008!
The Numanthia estate was named in tribute to the town of Numancia, renowned in antiquity for its legendary resistance to Roman invasion. Under attack from raiding legions in 133 BC, the citizens fought to the last, choosing death over the dishonor of surrender.
Situated close to Portugal, amongst hills sculpted by the River Duero in North-Western Spain, the Numanthia vineyards are exposed to extreme climatic conditions, with hot, dry summers and cold winters. It’s old twisted vines are tenacious and were robust enough to resist the phylloxera epidemic which ravaged European vineyards in the 19th century. The strength, resiliency and spirit of the singular Tinta de Toro grape from the Tempranillo family is fully expressed in the Numanthia wines.

Robert Parker 94+: The mid-level 2006 Numanthia is a deeper color than both vintages of Termes. It displays a brooding bouquet of wood smoke, Asian spices, violets, espresso, black cherry, and blackberry. Dense, rich, powerful, and incipiently complex, it merits 5-7 years of additional bottle age and will offer prime drinking from 2015 to 2026.

Robert Parker 93: The 2008 Numanthia spent 18 months in new French oak. It sports an inviting nose of pain grille, graphite, Asian spices, licorice, lavender, and blackberry. In the glass it reveals its voluptuous proportions, savory flavors, and outstanding volume. Give this lengthy Toro 5-7 years of cellaring and enjoy it from 2017 to 2028.”
