Dear Wine Lover,
Cuvée Winston Churchill 2000 has just been released on the market and we are pleased to offer it at the opening price. This is one of the best Champagne in the world and connesseur prefer it to the most popular Dom Perignon and Cristal. We are also pleased to offer an incredible price for the NV Brut from Pol Roger. This is not only the wine served at the Royal wedding from Prince William and Kate but also the Champagne that Parker named a best value for a non vintage champagne.
The winery and the cellars are located on the celebrated and noble Avenue de Champagne in Epernay, where the family Pol Roger is settled from the 1851 and managed to make it become the “gentlemen’s” Champagne as J.P. Kauffman wrote in “Voyage en Champagne”.
In fact, thanks to the passion and determination of Maurice and Georges, Pol Roger’s sons, and that Christan Pol Roger arrived to strengthen this collegial management in 1963, Pol Roger carve out one of the most flattering reputations in the select circle of the leading Champagne brands. Therefore, it is not surprising that Winston Churchill who said” In victory deserve it; in defeat need it” and even the British Royal family should made it their favourite over the years.
One cannot write about Pol Roger without mentioning Sir Winston Churchill. He first encountered the champagne in 1908 and on Armistice Day in 1945, it was the 1928 cuvée that was served to the victorious Prime Minister. But it was not only the wine that enamoured Churchill, but Odette Pol Roger whose glamour and flirtatiousness captured his heart. She sent him cases of Pol Roger for his birthday and in return he named a racehorse after her, the horse winning the Black Prince Stakes at Kempton but failing to run well when Odette herself came to see the horse race in Brighton. She was one of his few friends to attend Churchill's funeral at Saint Paul's Cathedral.
Henceforth, a black edge was added to the label as a mark of respect and in 1984 they decided to create their own cuvée named in his honour. It is no surprise that the champagne is purportedly the favoured sparkler for members of the armed forces and the aristocracy.
