Dear Wine Lover,
Our Bordeaux Buyer, Jérémie Beauvois, has been working very closely with our suppliers and the proprieties/winemakers over the last months, in order to select the very best price/quality wine from Bordeaux. Our goal was to select some very high quality wines for little prices! We have been blown away by some of these wines, most incredible is that some of these unknown wines are even better than some top names! We only picked wines bellow CHF 25.- and only wines from the top vintages, most of them are from the century vintage of 2009!
Bordeaux is well known for its top Chateaux but many times we forget that there are over 10’000 other smaller Chateaux that offer great wines at excellent prices. Mister Beauvois made a first selection of 50 wines of which we received a sample each (Foto attached). Together with all the sales team we organized a blind tasting and picked out the best wines of this selection. We are very proud about this little assortment we detected for you, so enjoy the following 11 wines from 10 different appellations and 3 different vintages, with an unique quality:
75.0 cl Bolaire - Bordeaux Supérieur 2009 CHF 14.00 (CHF 15.10 VAT Included) Original Carton x 12
Robert Parker 89: A sleeper of the vintage for sure, this dense, ripe, dark ruby/purple-colored wine, made from a whopping 39% Petit Verdot, 34% Merlot and 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, exhibits some tobacco leaf, black currants, licorice, roasted coffee and forest floor. It is ripe, medium to full-bodied in texture, pure, impressively endowed, and should drink deliciously for at least another 2-4 years, possibly longer.
75.0 cl Bad Boy - St. Emilion 2009 CHF 15.00 (CHF 16.20 VAT Included) From the owner of Valandraud!!! Original Carton x 6
Robert Parker 88: The best wine under this moniker that Jean-Luc Thunevin has yet produced, his homage to himself (or is it me?) is a delicious, fruit-forward sleeper of the vintage. Oodles of black currants, kirsch, licorice and spice jump from the glass of this medium-bodied, surprisingly concentrated wine that leaves a substantial tactile impression on the palate. Drink it over the next several years. Bravo!
75.0 cl Saintem - St. Emilion 2009 CHF 15.00 (CHF 16.20 VAT Included) From the owner of L’Eglise Clinet!!! Original Carton x 12
Wine Spectator 90: Rounded, ripe and inviting, with freshly crushed plum, blackberry and blueberry fruit woven with toasty spice and framed by a lingering cocoa edge on the finish. Full-bodied, but so refined and delicious already. Lovely length 100 percent Merlot. Best from 2013 through 2020. 1,500 cases made
75.0 cl Montlandrie - Côtes de Castillon 2009 CHF 25.00 (CHF 27.00 VAT Included) From the owner of L’Eglise Clinet!!! Original Wooden Case x 12
Wine Spectator 91-94: From the famed proprietor Denis Durantou, who is better known for his famous Pomerol, L-Eglise Clinet, this wine is a blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Dense purple in color, with a boatload of tannin but also impressive levels of extract and richness, for a 2009 this wine needs some patience from its purchaser. It was more hedonistic from barrel, but it actually seems even more seriously endowed from bottle, and I would hold off drinking it for a year or so, as it should keep for at least a decade or more.
75.0 cl La Vieille Cure - Fronsac 2009 CHF 26.00 (CHF 28.10 VAT Included) Original Carton x 12
Robert Parker 93: This property has made so many fine efforts lately that it is difficult to say the 2009 is better than their 2005. However, the 2009 is a charming, sexy, dense ruby/purple-colored offering displaying lots of ripe Merlot fruit intermixed with hints of charcoal, black raspberries, black currants, lead pencil shavings and truffles. This full-bodied, pure, nicely textured and layered Fronsac is a sleeper of the vintage that considerably over-performs for its modest price. Drink it over the next 15+ years. This is an obvious great value!
75.0 cl Poitevin - Médoc 2010 CHF 12.00 (CHF 13.00 VAT Included) This wine is just amazing for its price! Original Carton x 12
75.0 cl Fleur La Mothe - Médoc 2009 CHF 13.00 (CHF 14.05 VAT Included) Original Carton x 12
Robert Parker 90: This Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois 2009 tasting in London. The Fleur La Mothe 2009 has a very concentrated bouquet with far more fruit intensity than its peers. The palate is silky smooth on the entry with very good depth, harmonious with luscious black, vanilla-tinged fruit towards the succulent finish. Good length. Modern in style and beautifully crafted . Drink now through 2016. 5,000 cases made
75.0 cl De Côme - St. Estephe 2009 CHF 20.00 (CHF 21.60 VAT Included) the cheapest St. Estephe, close to Château Phelan Segur and Château Calon Segur Original Carton x 12
Robert Parker 90: Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois 2009 tasting in London. The de Come 2009 shows more extraction on the nose with dark plum and blackcurrant interlaced with cedar and a touch of mint. The palate is medium-bodied with refined tannins, crisp dark berry fruit with a succinct edgy quality towards the finish. Bags of freshness and vitality here. Very fine.
75.0 cl Frank Phélan (2nd Vin de Phelan Segur) - St. Estephe 2009 CHF 21.00 (CHF 22.70 VAT Included) 2nd wine of Phelan Segur! Original Wooden Case x 12
75.0 cl Clos La Boheme - Haut Médoc 2010 CHF 17.00 (CHF 18.35 VAT Included) Original Carton x 12
Robert Parker 91: Tasted at the Crus Bourgeois 2010 tasting in London. There is a Burgundy like purity on the nose – wonderful delineation and poise with joyful red cherry and cranberry fruit. The palate is well balanced with crisp tannins, plenty of ripe red berry fruit with a crisp, minerally finish. Superb. Drink now-2018. Tasted September 2012.
75.0 cl Poujeaux - Moulis 2008 CHF 24.00 (CHF 25.90 VAT Included) a top seller !!! Original Wooden Case x 12
Robert Parker 90: Another sleeper of the vintage, this beautifully plump, fleshy, corpulent 2008 exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as sweet blue and black fruit, smoke, earth and forest floor characteristics. Medium-bodied with outstanding concentration, purity and texture, it can be drunk now and over the next decade.
